You’ve heading out to brave the cold water; and you know that it will feel so good when you’re warming up with a coffee afterwards. There’s truly nothing like getting into the fresh ocean air and plunging into cold water to help beat the winter blues here in the Southern Hemisphere!

Here are our top post swim necessities, to keep you cosy after a winter swim.

1. A Cosy Towel

An obvious one, absolutely not to be forgotten! A warm and absorbent towel will be the perfect thing to wrap yourself up in, as soon as you’re out of the water. Make sure that you choose a towel that is generously large and quick drying. Our Luxe Beach Towel is perfect for the job: not only is it super quick drying and light to carry, but looks great too!

An added tip: if you have medium to long hair, try to squeeze as much water out of it as possible, and then pop it up in a claw clip or with a hair tie. Icy water dripping down your back is not a vibe!

2. Warm Clothes

It can feel a bit bothersome, but getting changed into warm clothes will make such a difference to your post-swim adventures. Find a changing room or risk it all behind the aforementioned towel… but absolutely make your way into something thick and warm!

We’re currently loving the matching tracksuit vibe, so that you’re toasty and cute hitting up your favourite cafe. Check out our favourites, here and use code ELIZA to save an extra 10% at checkout!

3. Coffee (and a keep cup)

Warming you up from the inside out, coffee (or a chai, or a hot chocolate: your go-to warm drink!) is the ultimate treat after a brisk winter swim! Bring along your keep cup, or choose to dine in, and enjoy soaking up the sun and good vibes.

The best thing about coastal coffee shops is that they are often frequented by cute dogs!

4. Aftercare

Once you’re home, it’s critical that you take the time to care for your wetsuit, swimsuit and towel. There is absolutely nothing worse than finding your wet beach stuff in your car a few days later!

Caring for your wetsuit and washing it after each use will ensure the longevity of your wetsuit and will keep it fresh for your next ocean adventure. For optimal aftercare, we recommend soaking your wetsuit in fresh and cold water in a sink for at least five minutes, before laying it out to dry in the shade.

Rinse your swimsuit with fresh water after wearing it and hang it to dry in the shade, and hang up your towel between uses to let it dry completely.

What are your winter swim essentials? Do you have any hot tips, or any recommendations that we should add to our list? We’d love to hear from you!
